Literacy centers

Serving literacy centers within the “Alef” initiative is an important part of the efforts exerted to support vulnerable groups in Iraqi society. Here is a detail about this service:

  1. Target audience: Literacy centers target adults who, due to various circumstances, have not been able to learn to read and write. The focus is on women and mothers in families, with more than 200 women taught literacy skills.
  2. Curriculum and Resources: The centers provide educational materials and appropriate curricula for teaching reading and writing, based on the needs of the learners. Necessary resources such as books, notebooks and other teaching materials are provided to facilitate the learning process.
  3. Role of teachers: Qualified and experienced literacy teachers are employed to teach students. Teachers are carefully selected to ensure the quality of education and its positive impact on learners.
  4. Cooperation with the concerned authorities: Coordination is made with the Ministry of Education and the concerned authorities to open literacy centers for parents within the target groups. Parents who are unable to do so are provided with the necessary literacy support, which enhances the level of education for the entire family.
  5. Social benefits: Literacy education for vulnerable adults promotes their independence and better participation in society. Empowering parents with reading and writing skills contributes to improving their career and personal opportunities, and enhances interaction with the surrounding world.

Literacy centers within the “Alef” initiative are an important opportunity for adults to learn to read and write, by providing appropriate curricula and qualified teachers. In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the concerned authorities, a positive impact is achieved on individuals and families, which enhances the level of education and improves their quality of life.
