father and son
Mr. Abbas is a volunteer with us to teach orphaned children. Because he suffers from kidney failure, the doctor prevented him from teaching, but he insisted on teaching while sitting. Unfortunately, Mr. Abbas passed away after a short period. Now his son Mustafa is volunteering with us to teach children and continue his father's path.

The orphan child Hussein. He was expelled from school because he failed the first grade for two consecutive years. After the examination, it was found that he could not see the blackboard due to his poor eyesight. Glasses were purchased for him for $10, and he is now one of the most outstanding and intelligent students.

A sick widow mother, despite her illness, fights for her daughter to complete her studies and enter the college of her dreams. Every day she comes with her daughter to wait for her until she finishes her lessons.
Mother of four daughters
A widowed mother of four daughters whose only source of income is selling bread. She works hard so that her four daughters can complete their studies and she always says, “I do not want my daughters to suffer what I suffered even if I sacrifice my life for them.”

One of the orphan children is facing difficulty in writing his homework for the initiative, and when we asked him about the reason, he answered that he is facing difficulty in writing because his pencil began to get smaller and smaller, and it is all he has.
Despite the challenges
An orphan child from a very poor family, but his poverty or social condition did not prevent him from continuing his studies, as he came every day to the educational center carrying his books in a plastic bag. One of the smartest and most successful students, despite the challenges, dreams of a bright future.
Hope
A disabled child, but despite his disability, he did not lose hope despite leaving school due to his inability to walk. Now he is one of the best students in the initiative and he has a great desire to complete his studies despite the pain and disability.
Smile despite illness
Despite his suffering from cancer, the child Kian comes continuously with his orphan brothers to the educational center to learn and complete their academic journey with smiles filling their faces.
The Alef Initiative was established in 2017 and is an initiative that works to support vulnerable groups in Iraqi society by providing free education to orphaned children, children of needy families, and displaced persons, in addition to children living in areas that have been subjected to war conflicts. The initiative also aims to provide job opportunities for young people of the same category in the education sector. The initiative is registered as one of the initiatives of the Bonyan Organization for Development and Education in Iraq. Bonyan Organization for Development and Education is a non-governmental organization registered with the Iraqi Department of Non-Governmental Organizations under the number (1SE2204022)
